Friends of Five Creeks Helps Strawberry Creek

Image

This Tuesday, Friends of Five Creeks weeded sections of Strawberry Creek in the Grinnell Natural Area. They removed invasive bindweed and nightshade plants, and picked up some accumulated trash. They expertly cleared the way for the native plants Rubus parviflorus (thimbleberry) and Scrophularia californica (bee plant) to reclaim their hold on the creek banks.

Thanks to all the volunteers who continue to help our creeks and watersheds. If you are interested in hands-on creek-related activities throughout the East Bay, please contact Friends of Five Creeks at www.fivecreeks.org.
