mild rain brings soapy waters

Remember the light rain we had yesterday? Check out what happened to the creek

Soapy urban runoff came rushing down from the eastern hills.

This event is most visible at the north culvert flowing into the confluence of the north and south forks of Strawberry Creek.

Even on clear days, soap suds are often present in the water.

EH&S has made efforts to discourage the suburban areas from washing their cars with synthetic soaps because the runoff ends up in the creek, thus polluting Strawberry Creek’s aquatic habitat. The once thriving fish population is now diminished to just a few.
